“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”Maya Angelou
It was later in the evening by the time I got onto my mat today and I could feel my energy running out. Now I chose each practice and what day I wanted to practice it on in advance but but beyond that I didn’t put that much thought into it. I’m ending the week with Yoga with Kassandra, I want one Yoga with Adriene and one Allie the Journal Junkie practice tossed in somewhere and the rest is just what caught my eye/looked best to me/seemed most fun. So imagine my surprise when I see I picked the 20 minute practice with Allie the Journal Junkie for today and it’s all on the floor. I was quite pleased. It was the exact practice I needed! Praise to the yoga gods! What a match! We did some rocking and stretching and connecting to our divine feminine center and our feminine energy. It was awesome. My hips and lower back got some much needed love. We rocked our knees and lower back around, brought our knees together using our hips, and then my favorite part; the wide legged “leg wipers.” You start off on your back, legs up and as wide apart as they will go. Then slowly you drop to one side while still keeping them wide. When your foot is on the floor then you bring the other leg in. Arms are spread wide and you breath into it. Then it’s off to the other side! It was a pretty tricky move, my legs don’t want to spread super far yet and doing it so slowly and controlled is great work. I’ll have to remember that one for when I make my own sequence. We ended with a chant of the Bija mantra Vam. I especially enjoy following along with Allie’s chakra videos because she ends them with the bija mantra. I find that to be even more connecting to the chakra.
Meditation followed immediately after yoga. It was a ten minute guided session for creativity, love, and sexuality. I’m really digging these meditations with such positive messages. I love having such reassuring and calming messages being pumped into me. Before I started this meditation, I looked up some mudras for this chakra and I chose one to do while doing this meditation. I chose Shaktimudra or the mudra of the Divine Feminine. That seems beyond fitting, ami’right? To do this mudra, you bring your palms facing each other in front of your chest. Then touch the pinkie and ring fingers, curl your thumbs into your palms and cover your thumbs with your index and middle finger. Sounds tricky I know, but it’s really not. I don’t know if it added anything to the meditation but it certainly didn’t hurt!
I pulled out my fox leggings, because orange everywhere! I also wore a shirt that had some touches of orange in it and of course, my trusty hair tie. I didn’t today but I think it’s about time I broke out my Halloween earrings. I’ve got lots with orange or pumpkins and pumpkins are a great sacral chakra food. Double whammy there! I’m already running out of orange options though, really gonna have to get creative with these next few days!
What’s a great way to energize the sacral chakra? Dancing and playing, you say? Why I love dancing!! After I got home from work I turned on my music and moved and grooved til I was out of breath and sufficiently exhausted. What a cathartic exercise. I love it! Gonna have to try to do that for the rest of the week.
I didn’t have all the energy (I’m still getting over a cold/sinus infection thingy. Friday was the worst overall but today was the worst for sinus pain! Outrageous it was! Holy cheeky toothache!) so I just watched a variety of videos all about ways to stimulate and energize svadhisthana; including essential oils, music, shadow qualities, and animals. I didn’t have an animal “call out” (just pop immediately to my mind) like the badger and thinking on it nothing resonated the way I thought something would. I read a suggestion of writing down all the animals that really pop up frequently around yourself or that you particularly love and then looking up the qualities of those animals and how they fit in with the chakras and chances are those animals are your little chakra animal guides. So I’ll be doing that. Cuz animals. Animals guys. I don’t think I can express how much I love animals and I want to get fun with this! Now excuse me while I go sniff some sweet orange essential oil and sway gracefully (or probably not nearly as gracefully as I think) around like a willow in the breeze.
