Visuddha Friday

Ah well, what is there to say about this day? The blue was strong with this day. Blue leggings, shirt with some blue waves, blue jewelry. I was blue head to toe! I own a lot of blue lol and thank goodness. It isn’t super fun when you have to scrounge and get stupid creative to find the colors you’re looking to use to stimulate that particular chakra. So woohoo for blue, got that color out the wazoo in my closet. I worked on my throat chakra yoga and did my Dedicate practice as well. I feel like this practice wasn’t maybe as “difficult,” if you will, as the other ones. It didn’t seem to me that it brought up as many emotions as the other practices have. I was hoping to get some tasty blue foods, blackberries or blueberries, but I didn’t have any. However, soothing, warming foods and liquids are wonderful for this chakra, so I most certainly …

Anahata Thursday

Joy of joys!! Another snow day!!! Alright Colorado! Winter’s sending us off into spring right. Only got about a week left of winter, and it’s most certainly been a rather lackluster season. This here little storm, tho, was exactly what we needed. Now I’m the first to admit that I really am not a snow fan. Give me sun, warmth, and non-inclement weather any day of the week! But if we don’t get the snow, then there goes the camping season. You can just forget about any campfires and what’s camping without a fire? Pathetic is what it is. Anyway, the point is… I have another full day to play around but mainly I’ll be focused on healing my Anahata chakra. I popped on my greenest outfit (st. patty’s leggings and a green tank top) and hopped onto my mat, eager to start my day with a little yoga. I started off with the yoga with Adriene Dedicate practice and …

Manipura Wednesday

Today was not a normal day. It was, instead, a SNOW DAY!!!! Finally!! I have been waiting all season for one! I was up early, as I normally am, dressed in a yellow tank top and yellow and green leggings. When I found out it was a snow day, I switched into a more comfortable shirt, an Anchorman “I love scotch” t-shirt. Haha, that shirt is easily one of my favorites, and it has a nice bit of yellow on it. Bonus! I was going to go ahead and do my yoga for the day but then I was feeling a little sleepy, so I instead went back to sleep for a while. When I woke up I ate some breakfast, a little cereal (which wasn’t my first choice, but is actually a perfect choice for Manipura) and did a little reading. Right before lunch rolled around, I got the sleepy sleepies again and decided to give into a nap …

Ajna Saturday (Tuesday)

Uh oh… It seems I am a few days behind. I went out on Friday night. I had told myself that it was something I NEEDED to do (and truly it was). And I was rather excited for it all day until the time came closer to leave and then I started trying to make excuses left and right. “Oh I’m getting tired.” “It would be more fun to just go out tomorrow.” “You could go out earlier and stay out later tomorrow.” “It really won’t be that fun anyway.” I’m full of such crap excuses. They almost won out too. But I really didn’t want to sit at home and wallow and regret that I should’ve just gone out. I told myself 2 drinks. That’s all you have to do, stay for 2 drinks, but it MUST be 2. I headed out to a small local bar, settled in for my 2 drinks (which turned into 4) and sat …

Svadhisthana Tuesday

Look at that peaceful, smiling face. Do you think it tells the truth? Do you think that smiling feeling persisted throughout the holding of this pose? Did you guess yes? Well, you’d be wrong, of course. I love yin yoga. I do. It’s right at the top of my favorite styles of yoga. But god is it challenging and in a way that frustrates me right to the point of tears (a good reason why I don’t want to take one of these classes with other people). And this pose… this fucking pose… good old lizard (utthan pristhasana, iffen you want to know the Sanskrit name. I like to, not that I remember most of them tho. One day…)… it kills me. To say that it is difficult for me would be the understatement of the year. I had to pop out of it on each side at least once and it certainly drug up some tempestuous feelings. Ah, but …

Muladhara Monday

A day of Muladhara stimulation. A red outfit picked out, a grounding yin practice, journaling, and foods to get the base chakra glowing a little brighter: I meant to start my day off bright and early (I normally wake up quite early. 4:30 is not an unusual time, although it tends to be more around 4:45/5) but of course with day light savings time that didn’t quite happen and I did not have the time to start my day off with yoga, or even making my own breakfast, as I’d intended to do. Thank goodness I picked out my outfit the night before (my red shirt with a black raven and nevermore across the top, leggings with bits of red throughout, and socks with red as well. I forgot the red jewelry I picked out. Oh well, I got the main components lol) or I might of not worn anything red! And with that, I grabbed a banana and an …

Svadhisthana: Day 7

Closing out Svadhisthana week! Wow this week has sure been a roller coaster of love, fun, some rough emotions, but mainly energizing insightful creativity. I’m bringing all that energy together and sealing it good with some loving yin yoga. Yoga with Kassandra’s Sacral Chakra Yin Yoga for Creativity and Sensuality is going to wind me down, close me out and prep me for the coming week. I did this class in the evening, fairly close to my bedtime. What I absolutely love about Kassandra’s videos is that she includes an affirmation with each pose. Some of the affirmations were easy as were the pose and I know those ones don;t need work. But some poses just kept getting harder and my frustration levels kept rising til I could feel the I-can’t-do-it anger tears heading for the surface. Now sometimes I lost track of what I was supposed to be affirming, but still. I think that it shows that maybe that …

Svadhisthana: Day 6

Oh boy! This weather! This weather, you guys! You guys, this weather! It’s beyond lovely!! 63 degrees and sunny sunny sunny! I spent a good portion of the day outside, just soaking up the warmth and the bright yellow orange rays. I could spend all day just being in the warm sun, eating it up like a lazy fat cat. Like my old cat Heidi (she was an indoor cat that I would reluctantly let outside to explore once in a while. I’m a crazy cat helicopter parent). Funny Heidi story: I went out to my car once to go back to work after my lunch break, got in, started the car and heard a purrmeow from the backseat. Heidi, fat silly crazy cat, had jumped in through the open window and was sleeping in the backseat in the sunbeam. Concentrated sun, stronger heat, more happiness, deeper sleep. That cat had it figured out! Here she is exploring other things: …

Svadhisthana: Day 5

Angela Chakra Yoga, Meditation, Muses, Ruminations, Yoga 0 Comments

Oh geeze aw man! I skipped out on watching the video I had planned for today. I had every intention of getting around to it in the afternoon but then I took a nap and everything went out the window when that nap decided it wasn’t finished with me quite yet. Gave me the deep sleepies it did! I just did not have the energy to commit to any sort of class, in any way shape or form this afternoon but I wanted to do something. So I yanked that mat into the middle of my room and did a quick stretch session. Cat/cow, down dog, seated twists and folds, happy baby, and lots of back stuff. I spent about 10-15 minutes maybe, doing this little pre-bed yoga session and it was just the ticket. There was no standing, it was just a lot of easy going, fluid stretches to limber me up before I crawl back into bed. My …

Svadhisthana: Day 4

Yesterday my yoga practice took a back seat as my exhaustion took over. However, today started fresh and new and I awoke energized and ready to go! Not so ready to go that I hopped onto my mat first thing, but energized enough that I didn’t feel the sleepies dragging me back under with their sticky little grabbies. The day was extra lovely, so warm and sunshiny, and I was feeling extra peppy so after work I decided to stop by the liquor store and grab a nice bottle of white wine. I poured a glass, set out my mat on the porch and got ready to practice the video I missed yesterday, as well as the one planned for today. The first practice is part of a 7 day chakra series with Yoga Tx, led by Jen Hillman, this one of course for the sacral chakra and focused on desire and creativity. The second practice was a Yoga with …
